TAPESTRY is an on going series of composite photographs that reveal diverse aspects of his drawing practice and episodic marking history through a formal process involving multiple time segments. His intent is to create a pictorial narrative from layers of marking units, much the same way that calligraphy functions simultaneously as text and pattern. Sandwiched between stop action 35mm slides and video stills are morphic projection patterns, which are developed by digitally redrawing photographed three-dimensional marks. Formatted to reference a window frame, this stratified photographic amalgamation produces a visual space in which the viewer is encouraged to vicariously enter. It is a moment that is both familiar and strange, inviting and foreboding where memory and place weave another reality.
